Be part of building a viable and sustainable Eritrea

Conference commentary:

“No country has been made by one generation alone “,  “ and this generation will have to play its role in building an Eritrea that can be handed over to future generations” is the type  of ideology accompanied by reality to empower  the young that Zemheret would say to you. And us who come out of this conference feel like we have had an advice of a life time.

A group of young people sitting side by side, from many walks of life to the call of the nation, to be part of history, and the movement.
It asks the question how do we play the role of organising our young to be part of this proud movement:

  • Why would you want to pass that opportunity? An opportunity of a life time to be active and militant part of your country whose destiny and history can only be undertaken by active participation.
  • You are asking yourself, how lucky are we to have such remarkable leaders who can take time to be with us and guide us through thick and thin and have acquired intellectual grounds that even our university lecturer has not been able to explain to us!

What does it stand for and how can I join? How do I play my role in this movement to transform my nation beyond 100 years? Is the flood of questions that can only follow!

  • But my parents do not like it.
  • But I am very committed to my religion and can not free myself.
  • But a member has told me to not join because I name called the organisation.
  • I have seen some mistakes and I don’t want to be labelled as part of it!
  • I will wait and see until every body else joins!

If you knew what it stands for, whose ideas are respected more than whose, and what are its democratic rules of engagement, the techniques for airing concerns and critical analysis of agendas, and if you understand that you would not have a ground you can call home to practice your religion, you can not fix the short comings of human error from afar, you would not want to miss the Ship whose bearings are very much in perfect working order and be proud! Charter is the tool!

And the decision is yours and no body else’s! And chances like this are rare.

Having a guest for the weekend with a minimal entertainment and occasional tea is hard at times stressful, you have to clean your house deeper, you have to be presentable, now imagine having 250 + people coming your way and have to provide all the accommodation transportation, food and material that will serve the purpose of a fruit full conference. If that is not stressful, now imagine the leadership that can handle the whole nation and organise such events in at almost minute by minute synchronism.

I would like to do my part as a citizen as well as a member! Wouldn’t you?

Emotional roller coaster at the conference, includes re uniting of old comrades from as way back as 1970, the re-uniting of newly formed strong friendships that lasted three years, re union of families who have not seen each other for more than 12 years, the tears that flow during the performance of the musical drama” values of our struggle” and its sounds and visual presentation were indescribable.

What is the correlation between the members at home and those abroad, what challenges do they have and what are the main tenures and pillars they both should shoulder? And that is discussed in details by members and helps them formulate the annual work plan.
I even have friends who would not mind to call their children “Viable” as that is the word that touched the heart and mind of a lot of us.
